When I inquired whether they were meant to be served that way, I was told that they had just come out of the cooler. I'm fairly certain they should have been warmed or toasted. I ended up having to take them back to my office and toast them myself because they were rock solid.
I decided to return the dish and requested the Teppan bowl instead, along with a side of edamame to balance the value of my initial order. I even apologized to the waitress for sending it back, but she didn’t offer any acknowledgment of the issue, simply stating that it was prepared as it should have been. The replacement meal took about 20 minutes to arrive despite the restaurant being half empty, and the edamame was so heavily salted that there were visible clumps. We had to use napkins to wipe off the excess salt before we could eat. The Teppan bowl was passable, though the zucchini was almost raw, and I only received about eight quartered pieces, but at least I could eat it. My friend ordered gyoza as an appetizer for $8 but only received four pieces, and the tops were hard, as if they had been left out too long and dried out. For the first time, I saw her leave some sushi uneaten; it was expensive, difficult to eat, and we needed a knife that was never provided. The flavor was off, reminiscent of cheap hot sauce, and the scallion garnish looked like it had been sitting around for two weeks, shriveled and dry. Perhaps this was just an off night or a result of a new cook, but I cannot recommend a visit.
I should have known when the place was totally empty to turn around. This is barely a restaurant. When we entered, there was no hostess, just a sign that said welcome to our self help dining experience or something to that effect. Order from thetablet and pick up your food when your number is called. We ordered our food from the tablet then realized we forgot drinks, but didn 't worry about it because water would be ok. There were a few self-help water carts with coolers and cups scatteredaround. The water cups are about 4 oz (pic1), which is a more appropriate size for measuring a dose of pepto-bismol in myopinion. That 's ok because there was no one else in the restaurant and we could sit right next to a water cart for quickrefills. As we waited for our food, I noticed lots of people coming in to pick up orders. I think this place is reallyintended as a kitchen for pickup and delivery, which is weird because it 's a huge, well decorated space in a primelocation. Probably around my 3rd cup of water, a homeless guy came in and asked us for money. Once our number was called, Iwent to pick up our food. I had the Tonkotsu Ramen with pork belly (pic2), which was good and why this is a 2 star review. Theonly problem with it was the cutlery, which were the smallest, cheapest plastic token utensils I 've ever seen in my waking life. I struggled to eat my pork belly with the flimsy noodle-pronged fork until I realized there was a whole bucket of chopsticks onthe table, so I grabbed a pair of those. The other member of our party had the tofu teppan bowl. I 've known this person for 6years, and I 've never seen them so disappointed by food as to not finish the whole serving. In this instance, they barely tooka nibble before deciding to toss it. I couldn 't believe it was that bad, so I decided to try it. Now I don 't know everythingabout tofu in Asian cuisine, but I do know the difference between silken and regular tofu, and I do not ever recall a
I placed a catering order for 10 rolls on a Tuesday, asking for it to be ready for pickup by Friday at 5 PM. They confirmed the order, but then canceled it on Wednesday without any explanation. It’s difficult to take a business seriously that can't handle larger orders. It was only 10 rolls, not 50, and they had ample time to prepare. Perhaps they decided to cancel my order because I didn’t include an automatic tip, but I always tip 20% in cash for takeout. This experience was quite disappointing. I guess I’ll take my catering business elsewhere.
Ordered from doordash first time tonight. It was expensive but was the food was very good tasting. The spring rolls were very tasty and warm and good dipping sauce. Tried the goza they where also very tasty and warm and the sushi was perfect. I had thePhilly Roll and salmon roll. Very similar but the rice and taste was on par and presented it well. Roommate got the bang bangshrimp and the chicken bowl. Both smelt good and warm to the touch when received. Thank you I will definitely be coming back. :
