La Rancherita - Raleigh

Our food arrived quickly; however, just as swiftly, our server disappeared. There was no follow-up from her at all, and our drinks went from full to empty without any attention. The food was delivered by someone other than our server, who was not seen again until it was time for the check. The tacos were tasty and well-filled, but they were on the smaller side and not very filling. In contrast, the Fajitas were generously portioned, giving us plenty to take home, and every bite was delightful. The burrito had a good amount of onions and peppers, but unfortunately, it lacked steak—there were maybe three pieces in total, with the rest being vegetables. It was still enjoyable, but not very filling due to the minimal steak. Overall, after our meals were served, it seemed as if the staff considered their job done and moved on to the next table. This was a bit disappointing from a customer service perspective, especially since the experience started off so wonderfully but declined sharply. That said, the food was definitely worth the price if you can overlook the service issues.

Now, I expect that if you're going to seat us by the kitchen, at least the service should be decent. But what was even more disappointing was the food; it was burnt, dry, and came with hardly any rice. To top it off, our order wasn’t even correct. Ever since leaving, my stomach has felt worse than when I arrived. When we brought our concerns to the waitress, she didn’t seem apologetic at all. She merely asked if we wanted to speak to the manager, which we could see wouldn’t really help our situation. The highlight of the evening, believe it or not, was when I had to go to the front of the restaurant to find a working pen. All we could do was chuckle about it, and we’ve already decided to drive further just to go to the Crabtree location instead. Sincerely, Disappointed

I spontaneously decided to visit La Rancherita with a friend tonight, and I couldn't be more pleased with our choice. Despite some recent complaints, I had no problems with the service at all. Our waitress was attentive, incredibly friendly, and offered fantastic recommendations. The carne asada was juicy and tender, and the salsa was absolutely delicious. It's rare for me to give a 5-star rating, but this place truly deserves it!
