Romantik Hotel Jagdhaus Waldfrieden

We had a family meeting with seven people in Easter and looked forward to a nice culinary experience in a beautiful ambience. The menu was limited compared to normal days, but with three delicious menus to choose, plus asparagus with all types of add-ons there was more than enough choice to satisfy any taste. I had a Quail terrarine, followed by roasted lamb shoulder, and a Skyr / mixed berries dessert. All these were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The lamb shoulder was very tender and served on an intense rosemary jus. Our dinner was accompanied by a beautiful 2012 Pinot Noir by Knipser (Germany) and water flatrate, which is recommended if you like to enjoy water with your wine. The overall service was fast and attentive. So why only three stars? I live in Switzerland and we got rid of the masks some time ago without great complications. Official regulations in Schleswig-Holstein no longer require wearing masks in restaurants that I feel personally is a great relief (I am fully vaccinated, including boosters, and I take COVID seriously, so not too enthusiastic about this post). I was invited to this place. If I had a choice, I would have searched for another option because of the restaurant's mask policy. The rationality of why the restaurant enters and visits the toilets (which are both silent activities) is so dangerous that it must wear a mask while aerosols are distributed without a mask into the room when I speak and laugh at the table are beyond my understanding as a scientist. Every single choice, and mine is to stay away from this place as long as they need me to wear a mask while the government does not.

We went there for lunch where they serve a 3-course meal for less than 30 euros. Professional service and good food, we enjoyed our visit!

The restaurant offers an interesting mix of traditional German and French inspired cuisine. Service is discreet, professional and friendly. Wine proposals are on site. Worth the ride from Hamburg. The surroundings are beautiful!

Excellent restaurant with hotel operations. If you want to select in Quickborn and around once something special as a restaurant thereto can not get away. Ausgezeichtes food in friendly service and comfortable Abiente.

We had dinner here right before they were closing for the night. We booked a hotel room here and drove up to find a cozy spot in the middle of the trees. We both ended up ordering the lamb and were very happy with it. Even though we arrived right before closing, they never made us feel rushed. The only thing that could have made it better was a little lower lighting.
