I think we were in Fortuna for 2.5 days and are here three times. The staff was great and the dishes/drinks were absolutely delicious. A must!
Best restaurant in town. amazing service and perfectly executed dishes with excellent ingredients. large beer and wine selection. Table side of the upper shelf fleet served. this restaurant will take care of you and then some.
Rancho Perla offers tourist groups and offers a set menu that includes both Costa Rican and international fare. The meal began with a starter of a simple salad (letters, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, paprika, onion and palm hearts); garlic bread; and a drink mixed fruit juice. For my main I chose the Corvina, a local fish fillet, covered with a seafood sauce that contained even shrimps, mussels and shells, along with mixed vegetables including green beans, carrots, peas, zucchini and more. I also tried the Corvina in a savory, creamy capers sauce, which was even tasty as the seafood sauce and was served with mixed vegetables and potatoes. For dessert came a thick slice of pineapple with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce, which for a nice end to a delicious food in a lively atmosphere!
Even if you’re staying at some fancy resort in Arenal La Fortuna — you HAVE to get a taxi and go out and try this place. Better than any hotel restaurant. It’s been around awhile (formerly as Rancho Perla) and any local would recommend it to you. Seriously one of the best places we’ve eaten in Costa Rica. Amazing seafood dishes like the soup and shrimp-stuffed snook filet. Also loved the plantains boats with ham and melted cheese. Plus the staff is wonderful, the restaurant itself is beautiful, the food is authentic, and it’s just a good time here! Pro tip: if you like spicy food, they have a house-made hot sauce with ghost and habañero chilis here, and it’s bomb!
