Mixed Plate - Pukalani

Quiet place in a strip-mall. the menu does not give vegans, but when they ask, they say "vegan no milk products" and they will point to the articles. cannot go wrong with the fools or burritos!

We stopped at this restaurant on our way to Haleakala because there were very few other options in the area. The menu didn't indicate which dishes were vegan, so we had to ask the owner if the tamales plate was vegan or if they could make a vegan burrito without dairy products. We decided to try both. The tamales plate was really delicious and I definitely recommend it. However, the burrito, while large, was disappointing and I do not recommend it. If you find yourself in a similar situation, I suggest sticking with the tamales. Overall, I would probably choose to skip this restaurant in the future.

I called ahead to inquire about vegan options and was told they had vegan bowls and burritos. When we arrived and asked for more details, the staff seemed indifferent to veganism. The worst part was when we ordered the burritos and tried to confirm their vegan status, only to be told that the wraps contained animal products. It's acceptable for restaurants to not offer vegan options, but dishonesty about ingredients is not appreciated.

I tried the vegan tamales and they were amazing! Two large tamales, rice, beans, and a salad with guacamole for just $14. The staff were very friendly. I recommend calling ahead to ensure they have vegan options available.
