Madre Tierra

The service at this restaurant was top-notch. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. We enjoyed drinks, appetizers, and dinner on the second-floor outdoor terrace.

I ordered the Caribbean Chicken Burger and was disappointed to find that it lacked any Caribbean flavors. The bun was dry and the side of chips and salsa had no flavor or dressing. After 18 days in Costa Rica, this was the worst food we had. It was tasteless and overpriced.

We visited Madre Tierra on our final evening in Puerto Viejo. We were in search of a chill spot to enjoy a drink, and we found just that here. Although we didn't try any food, the dishes we saw coming out of the kitchen looked fantastic. Our main focus was on the drinks, and we were not disappointed. The service was a bit slow, but hey, it's Costa Rica. And it's the Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica. But honestly, it didn't bother us. We were on vacation, so we just relaxed and enjoyed the atmosphere. The bartender/server was amazing and made each drink with care. Even if you're not hungry, make sure to stop by for one of the best drinks in Puerto Viejo. Really nice food and atmosphere here. The owners were so friendly and fun. The vegan and vegetarian options are amazing! The cocktails are so tasty and good value too. The owner gave us two free drinks at the start and end of our meal and we didn't fell rushed at all.

The food was alright. We ordered burgers but the bread wasn 't good at all. The service wasn 't the best either. I asked the waiter about the description of the burger because the only description it had was burger with orange and ginger and I asked the waiter how it was, my question was does it come with a piece of orange or is it cooked in orange? and he rolled the eyes and told me to read the menu again. I mean come on, the service of that man could of been better. The food was overpriced.
