La Canasta - Puerto Vallarta

We have been going to La Canasta for approximately 10 years. We just love it. The lady who runs the kitchen provides a great breakfast which is usually served by her son or a female friend. It is a quiet, outdoor area in the middle of a square. Breakfast is inexpensive and delicious. Be sure to drink the coffee. It is simply the best. And, do not forget to eat the green sauce with your eggs. Nothing like it anywhere else and it is made fresh daily. A meal for two including coffee is under $9.00.

We were short-changed on our all-inclusive deal at nearby Canto del Sol, and needed a convenient place for breakfast and lunch on our last day. The breakfast was delicious and under $10 for 2 people with tip. Chorizo omelet and chilaquiles, fresh orange juice, coffee. Lunch paled a bit in comparison--you need to ask for some kind of fruit or vegie, tacos are not rolled and fried, just heated in a skillet, quesadillas were better. Again, came in under $10. Glad it might get some traffic from tripadvisor!

We stumbled upon this restaurant in the Villas Vallarta shopping mall. The restaurant is very small with tables also provided outside the restaurant. The food was delicious. My husband and I both ordered eggs and toast. It came with refried beans if you desired. My husband doesn't like refried beans so one morning he got potatoes and the other morning he got a potato pattie. They also served strawberry jam with the toast. Not sure if it was homemade, but it was surely delicious. The breakfast with our beverage came to 90 pesos total for the two of us. It was really reasonable, the food and service was excellent. We will definitely be back to eat at this restaurant again when we return to Puerto Vallarta.

We stayed at a condo a 1 minute walk from here and went here a few times. Breakfast is good with eggs any style and chilaquillas for 45 MP coffee included. A hamburger, a few fries and a bit of salad for the same price. Ask for your burger well done if you don't want it pink inside. Ask for your coffee with no cinnamon if you don't want it that way. Entrees are basic but the prices are great and the lady that runs the place is really nice.
