Contribuiți la feedbackI enjoyed the ahi poke bowl at this pool/beach bar and grill. We chose a table with both ocean and mountain views. The poke bowl included sushi rice, seaweed salad, sweet onions, nori, ginger, avocado, and of course, raw diced tuna. Service by Mike was excellent. Some of the servers seemed distressed; I wondered if it's because the resort changed ownership recently, the beach seems to have lost its former beauty, and the resort seemed emptier than I expected. As in many restaurants we visited in Hawaii, birds watch you eat and hover, waiting to attack your plate the second you leave the table. Visit the restroom before your meal, since you can't leave the table in the middle of the meal.
Kind of long overdue to write this review, but I got back into Yelp. Writing reviews brings back memories and would love to share some of my experiences for all the FOODIES out there! This was in October BTW. Let's begin by saying that the area was beautiful. You get a great view of the ocean in a luxury hotel, absolutely breath-taking! Now, lets get on to the bad stuff and the reason why I am giving this a 2/5. The restaurant was understaffed with only 2 waiters, and I each in different sections. We waited around 15 mins for the waitress to get to our table...then another 35 mins for the food to come out. Why don't they hire more people?! We ordered the burger, and I swear we only saw about 12 small pieces of fries...are you kidding me? We didn't have time to flag the waitress since she was too busy taking care of customers. Then, the Tofu (mind you it was $20) was a complete garbage! Small portion with no flavor. We also did not have a lot of options to choose from since all of their fish is out...like how do you run out of fish?! It's 11:30 AM, LOL. Overall not worth the money! The waitress was sweet and did her best, but was still not a great experience for me
We were here daily throughout our stay and tried pretty much everything on the menu! The service was wonderful and the food was good. The drinks? Even better!! We were completely invested in the pele lemonade...and the mai tai...and the passion punch...lol It was a really FUN trip!!! The resident chickens and rooster kind of added to the ambience. And the view....OMG the view....the perfect recipe for instant relaxation. We spent a small fortune but have great memories and can't wait to go back! Note: get the caprese flatbread!!
Really overpriced restaurant at the St. Regis. Have been hearing about the local grass-fed Kauai beef burgers for years, but when I tried one here it wasn't great. It was a bit over cooked and, frankly, not very tasty. Nowhere near as good as the burger at Duke's on the South Side. And way more expensive. The setting is really nice but doesn't have as much of a view as I would expect or hope for the general beauty of the area and they price you pay for food. For whatever reason, they put a building between this restaurant and the bay which blocks most of the view.
We've tried the poke nachos, po'okela sausage, and chipotle black bean burger, as well as several of the cocktails, during our weeklong stay at the St. Regis. The food is generally mediocre and very overpriced. We would not have eaten here repeatedly if not for convenience and the beautiful Hanalei Bay views and setting (which could make the poor food somewhat acceptable). The black bean burger was my wife and my favorite of the three choices: good flavor, filling but still relatively healthy, and good guacamole. No real complaints here. The poke nachos were on a bed of potato chips, and I would have preferred tortilla chips. The flavoring was solid and there was plenty of poke. Several of the pieces tasted fishy, so we never knew if our next bite would be fresh or fishy. The maui onion chips, onion, and scallions on the nachos left an overly strong onion aftertaste. I would potentially give these another shot. And the sausage sandwich was dry and lacked flavor, with a dry, tasteless bun that seemed to fit the mediocre sandwich perfectly. Definitely pass on this. The cocojito Freeze, passion Pleasure, and Aloha Mary were our favorite cocktails be sure to make it a double for $4 extra on these $16 drinks, which adds a shot/floater to each drink. Best value you can find at the St. Regis. Go for the views but avoid the food as much as your hunger can stand!
