This is the exact type of joint my wife and I love. Old school, hand-written menu, simple, good food. Excellent desert. The epitome of a local joint. Dairy Cheer is a hard place to review. It has been a staple of food service in Prestonsburg for as long as the majority of the population remembers. It definitely has its good parts, but because of its smaller local based presence it can some consistency issues. I bought the Smash Burger and what was in the past the signature side of Dairy Cheer the Onion Rings. The burger was good. A little too much bun for the meat for my liking and a little overcooked. The real issue for me was the distinct charred flavor on the onion rings and the overt amount of residual grease. Both indicators that the oil in the fryer needs filtered and/or changed. Now this wouldn’t be too much of an issue but their onion rings can be the best ever it is almost a sin for them to be done this way.
