The Continental - Preston

There are numerous excellent vegan options available, and the restaurant is conveniently located near Miller and Avenham Parks, as well as the railway station and the city center of Preston. They provide seating indoors, outdoors, and in a winter garden. The menu features vegan starters, main dishes, and desserts that go beyond typical offerings, showcasing truly creative and delicious cuisine. Today, I had the tofu in cedar batter with chunky chips, complemented by a basil purée and lemon curd dip. It was absolutely delightful!

I found the sausage dish a bit confusing, as they resembled more of a plant-based croquette than traditional sausages. My husband mentioned that his dahl was quite good, though. The flower balls had unique shapes but didn’t come with a dipping sauce, which was a bit disappointing. Everything was beautifully presented, and despite the pub being very busy, the service was commendable. Overall, it was a pleasant visit, and I noticed a significant improvement in the food quality since our last visit in the summer.

Amazing tasty food, great service. I had Korean fried rice with tofu, other options were mushroom risotto, watermelon feta salad or vegan burger. I’ve eaten a lot of vegan dishes and this one was the worst! The cauliflower main was completely tasteless well aside from a bigger burnt flavour. Couldn’t eat it and had to send it back and just get chips! It’s 2023 it’s really not that hard to make a tasty vegan dish this menu reads like it’s been created by a meat eater chef who hates vegans or has just never tasted the vegan dishes themselves.
