Scoops Gelato - Portsmouth

I don't know what to say! This is the most delicious dessert I have ever had. So much better than just ice-cream,this gelato is amazing!!

For some reason even their previously non-dairy sorbet is now made using milk powder. So any families with lactose intolerant members, or vegans, had better steer clear, as we'll now have to after years going there.

I was ‘hired’ here a couple months back. The lack of documents i had to fill was my first insight into the sketchiness of this place. As someone who’s previously worked in an ice-cream parlour that holds itself to much higher standards, it was easy to spot the red flags from behind the counter. Firstly, the high prices for stingyly-made products. For all items that you can get toppings on, we were told to count them and would get in trouble for giving a customer more than the allocated number. Four Ferrero rochers on a massive £10+ Ferrero rocher waffle was a sad sight. Limited chocolate drizzle. This is just one of plenty of examples. Second was the cleanliness. No gloves, no hair nets nor hats. No wonder people keep finding hair in their food. Third and most frustrating to me was the management. They take bad management to another level. Condescending, unhelpful, unresponsive is how i would describe in in 3 words. None of my questions were answered, i was treated like a child and I wasn’t even told that I wouldn’t be getting shifts for the quiet period, they left my queries on this unanswered for days at a time during a time when I desperately needed to work just to be able to eat. I haven’t been contacted back in over two months so i assume i have been fired? Not that they ever gave me a reason as to why. All i know is that a coworker once told me ‘sometimes if they don’t like a person they’ll just stop giving them shifts without saying anything’. I don’t recommend coming here, honestly you can make everything they do here just as easily at home, or go somewhere that doesn’t treat it’s new staff members so poorly. That being said I also don’t recommend working here. It was the biggest waste of my time when i could have been looking for other jobs they strung me along for no reason. Also the lady who was supposed to be training me spent the whole 4 hours on tiktok. Genuinely what.

I went here with my cousin and auntie, all of us ordered waffles with soft serve. After we ate, we all had stomach aches and it gave me diarrhea about 30mins/1hour later... I don't mind because now I feel slim but not a good sign hygiene wise. Looking back it did seem a bit grubby. Anyway, the food was nice but I thought it was overpriced. I probably wouldn't go back unless I wanted to a dessert with a laxative effect... which I might because I don't mind diarrhea. Also, asked for tap water with my waffles and had to go up again and ask for it... not a big deal, helps with my daily step count. Anyway, I'd advise the establishment to revise their hygiene policies and maybe wipe down the menus.

Visited scoops have previously been and like mentioned in other review it has gone dramatically downhill. The customer service was damn right awful, went in there and not even a hello so rude, no welcome had to ask for menus as nothing was on the tables, place looked grubby. Paid around £70 for 3 adults and 3 kids to have a desert. Our little kids being kids wanted to use the straws which obviously being biodegradable fall apart whilst being used, my nephew went up to get another straw, my brother then noticed ANNA from behind the counter proceeded to hide the straws behind the counter with her, after another straw dropped on the floor my brother went up and asked for one to which we were told ‘you’ve already had enough straws’, genuinely gobsmacked, my 5 year old then politely asked for one as hers had been on the floor and again was told by a very rude and unfriendly ANNA, 'No '. I do not usually get annoyed by things but seeing as I had just spent such an amount in there I had to ask ANNA what was the problem why was she so concerned about the straws, did she personally pay for them?? to which she told me her manager would be looking on the camera... absolute joke… yes, he must be struggling to afford straws with the price hike, disgusting will not visit again. Also, to my disgust noticed ANNA cleaning the tables with window cleaner which is not a disinfectant, and it will not kill germs. Train you staff on what to use to clean your tables and keep your straws you disgusting establishment!
