Gin Olive - Portsmouth

Two of us ordered the steak and stilton pie. It looked great but we both thought it was tasteless and disappointing. Service was slow. All in all an expensive and unimpressive experience

We booked and glad we did as customers were being turned away. Great food and and pre 6 o’clock 241 cocktails. Staff were excellent and welcoming. Will certainly be returning.

Had my monthly catch up with friends and we had the best time at Gin and olive. The food was immense! The ambience was great. Have booked to go again twice more with diff friends. You won’t be disappointed give it a try!

I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. We ordered 2 pasta dishes that we tried to send back as they were cold, watery and had no flavour. The waitresses were lovely and explained that they tried to take them off the bill but that the owner refused and said we had to pay for them even though we hadn’t eaten them. I asked to speak to the owner as the pasta dishes were £17 each and completely inedible, however he refused to come speak to us so we had no choice but to pay for the bill. Overall the experience was awkward and disappointing and we wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

Have been to Gin Olive several times and the food is absolutely gorgeous. Went with friends last night and again the food was amazing. I had the risotto and it was delicious. But last night the service wasn’t great. We weren’t met with a smile from our waitress. Service was pretty miserable! And we were told that we we weren’t allowed to take our left over food home with us. We pointed out to our waitress that we had paid for that food and effectively we were entitled to take it home. But we were told point blank we weren’t allowed to. If we weren’t going to a show I would have asked to chat this through with the manager but we didn’t have time. My friend however did wrap her leftover steak into napkins and took it home with her!
