Rick's Frozen Custard - Portsmouth

This is honestly the best custard place ever! We discovered it years ago when we lived in Chesapeake, and now that we're in North Carolina, we truly miss it! Whenever we visit my family, we absolutely have to stop by. Yesterday, I ordered the banana split, and let me tell you, it was overflowing with fruit and cost less than $5! It was definitely worth it.

You can always expect a smile when you place your order here. The staff is not just friendly; they also display wonderful old-fashioned manners. The custard is delicious and has become a family favorite.

My family was really excited to take me to this custard shop they’ve been raving about. I ordered a small vanilla cup with two toppings, and the staff confirmed my order correctly. However, when we got to the pickup window, they had the wrong topping on my cup and insisted that it was what we ordered. They then told us we would need to pay for another one to fix their mistake. I’ve decided to take my business elsewhere because basic customer service seems to be too much to ask for these days.

The RUDEST customer service ever. They lack active listening skills, comprehension, and respect. On top of dealing with the rude staff the custard was not good. I could’ve had better from a fast food or any other place in the world. Do not recommend because it is not like it used to be. Will never go again!

Unfortunately Pamela's review is correct Rick's customer service has tanked.My family and I have been coming here for nearly 20 years. I ordered a super sundae and the staff member mistakenly heard a sundae and charged for an additional topping. This meant I got half of the portion for nearly the exact same price of what I actually ordered. When I asked them to remake it to what I asked for, they said there was nothing they could do and there were no refunds or exchanges. Bottom line, they only care about money here.
