District - Portsmouth

We were looking for a good lunch. We stumbled on a superb lunch. The southern cuisine at District restaurant was outstanding! It has been my experience that southern restaurants have bland tasting food. Not at Districts. Our meals were perfect. Our waiter, Tarnisha, was also perfect and friendly. The ambiance is cool and laid back. I will return very soon. BTW. Their prices are fantastic. Probably 30% less expensive than most southern style restaurants

Called 30 minutes away was put on hold for all of 30 minutes to only watch waiter do NOTHING. With the phone next to her face down? ask if I have a pick up ?? I WISH! Food salty yams ?? NASTY . Attitude of the waitress ? NASTIER!Food: 1/5

My husband and I were visiting his mother and my mother in law in Virginia. We had a taste for some soul food, so I googled location's in the area and we decided on this place. We went there on Friday March 17, 2023 around 530/600. There was one person in line to order before us. The bartender took our order to go. She was very courteous. My husband ordered the smothered turkey wing meal w/ greens/rice and gravy and 2 pieces of fried chicken. My mother in law ordered fried shrimp and I ordered smothered porkchops w/Mac n cheese and yams. We all thought the food was delicious. My smothered porkchops were some of the best I have tasted at a restaurant. Our food was ready in about 15 minutes. It is not handicap accessible. They do welcome everyone and you can eat inside. On our way out they were starting to get somewhat busy. The prices were decent we paid around $95 (included in the price was 2 shots of Don Julio and 1 shot of Hennessey while we waited for the food). We highly recommend that if your in the area to give this place a try. You will not be disappointed.

This place is amazing! Always great service and the food is worth driving 12 hours for. We always come to District when we're in Virginia from Massachusetts.Food: 5/5
