An Tigh Seinnse - Portnahaven

If there is a pub that summarizes the spirit of the village of Portnahaven and almost the entire island of Islay, that is An Tigh Seinnse. Small, typical, with open fireplace and with strong marine character. At first you could think that we are facing a local pub, lost in which we can only take a few paints and a bag of chips or cold sandwich ... nothing further from reality. We find that the pub is run by an Englishman who went to the island to make a project and was so predated from the island that he stayed there, left everything and took over the local pub in danger of extinction by the age of the original owner. The case is that this new owner has created a place with an impressive kitchen, a charming coffee shop, with a selection of beers, whiskies and pretty impressive wines. Ideal place to, after a stroll through this beautiful village and to be with the seals and appreciate the local landscapes, relax next to the fireplace, taking something, with excellent customer service and an unbeatable atmosphere. Not in vain, this pub is one of the most recommended in all existing tourist guides on the island of Islay, both for its quality and for its history and as a typical local place. A whole classic to keep in mind.

Great little pub , very friendly , extremely good food . Wet windy day , storm Agnes, while we were there today. Portnahaven is a beautiful place to visit (as we know from past visits in the summer months) So good to still find An Tigh Seinnse here and up and running so well. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

The restaurant in Portnahaven at the end of a long single track road offers great food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere. It is definitely worth the journey! The cracked crab claws are delicious, and the Cullen Skink soup is the best we have tried on this trip. If you're interested in lobster or prawns, make sure to call a few days in advance as they are freshly caught the day before your visit. Prices range from £20 to £30 per person.
