The Daily Feast - Portland

The good: Service and atmosphere were great! They nailed the hash browns being nicely crispy, and the corned beef was perfect. The bad : The food lacked care. The biscuits were literal hockey pucks that they said they make themselves, and they were very bland, a little salty if anything. The gravy was shockingly devoid of flavor, even the sausage was flat, completely lacking any savory notes, it was inedible and I actually had to send it back- which I have almost never done. The corned beef was a miss with the horse radish sauce they should keep on the side. They put it all over it and took away from an opportunity to let us decide how to apply a pretty universally controversial condiment. I ended up getting the veggie breakfast burrito after sending the biscuits and gravy back. The I added chorizo, which I really couldn't taste but added 5.00 to the cost. The biggest issue was that there was no contrast in texture, they used limp hash brown potatoes, eggs, beans, I thought maybe the chorizo would be crisp. But the thing was a soft mush vehicle... Red cabbage, white onion, or crispy red breakfast potatoes would have done wonderfully. One other quirk about the place was the bathroom is in the basement, not convenient, and only one toilet, not a huge deal but worth mentioning. I wouldn't come back unless they took more care in their food based on the above.

The food was good, but what really shines here is the wait staff. Everyone was super friendly and seemed to genuinely enjoy being there.

This place has potential. Maybe I went there on a bad day, but boy, was it a sub-par food experience. Firstly, how do you mess up scrambled eggs and bacon. The eggs were bone dry and almost in thick chewy chunks. The bacon they served me was so damn dry and crispy...like outrageously over-cooked. I love crispy bacon, but this was pathetic. If I was a cook in a kitchen, I would never send food out looking like that. It was just a dry, brittle, and crunchy mess. I asked for a new order of bacon, and it came back out the same way. The server noticed it was the same and was nice enough to replace it with another order of sausage, which was honestly pretty alright. But he then gave the awful bacon to the next table over. So what I've concluded is that either, it was an off day for the chef, or their standards are extremely low, and that's their idea of decent food. Either way, do better! I was in portland for one night, and I just wanted a simple breakfast. Like its scrambled eggs and bacon yall. You just scramble some eggs, throw it in a pan, and stick some slices of cured meat on a pan and just dont cook it soo much that it sucks every ounce of moisture out of the food. It's pretty simple. I digress. The service and vibe were there... Maybe time to replace the chef? 2/5

After being a ongoing customer for months now I no longer will support a business that is not willing to stay open till the time advertised on google. Update your hours so people can actually enjoy this place. Closing 30mins early or sometimes even an hour is unprofessional.as well as shutting down the coffee machine an hour early is ridiculous. If stated closing at 2pm it should be that. I understand closing maybe 10 mins early but it’s unprofessional to close at random times on the daily. Went in the other day and they were closing at 1:45pm I go in today before 1:45 and they employee said “well today we are closing at 1:30pm” with the smartest attitude. Get a different job if you don’t want to work. I’m tired of these breakfast places that want tips but do the least. There’s only one employee there that has excellent service and she’s the only one I ever tip when I go in. Unfortunately by the way they run this business I will no longer be back in. I would like to add more information about the bad experiences that I’ve had here. The ginger, was rushing us to pay and when we did pay she kept $2 never returned my change until I had to ask for it. Assuming you’re deserving of a tip is crazy. Especially after rushing us out. Crazy brows, idk her name but she didn’t want to seat us in a comfortable spot. A small table for a couple with a man as big as mine is uncomfortable and not realistic. We asked her to move us and she refused to and then Tori (the only employee that has extremely good service) came to save us and sat us comfortably at a good size table for us both without a problem. If it bothers you so much to clean tables then get another job. Tori is truly saving this business any of the other employees have gave me and my partner a hard time while trying to dine in. I tip Tori all the time she’s always very welcoming and kind and willing to take care of the customers. If you do end up going to this business please tip TORI!

Delicious breakfast joint. Friendly staff. The drinks were all homemade and tasted great. Highly recommend.
