Nimblefish - Portland

Really lovely and intimate atmosphere but the sushi selection was disappointing for the price tag. Our selection was extremely mackerel heavy. The best plate was amaebi, but they don't have a fryer so they didn't serve the heads. You could order uni at $14 for one piece !! but it wasn't part of the 11 piece menu. I ordered extra two pieces for 13 pieces total and walked out hungry. I am glad I tried it but don't plan to be back.

Far and away the best sushi I’ve had in Portland, and a strong contender for best sushi ever. We’re super fortunate to have this level of omakase available. The fish was exquisite, the staff knowledgeable and friendly and the ambiance sealed the deal. Will be back as frequently as I possibly can!Food: 5/5

The fish was great quality. I tried tako as nigiri for the first time. It came from a tentacle that was like 2 inches in diameter. Holy moly...it was experience, i can say i had it but i prefer the smaller tentacles in a sauce. The chef had to manually soften it with lines made by his knife. I enjoyed the sake and how well-versed the server was. It was also $11 a glass, cheap, compared to other places I've gone. My favorite though is the uni. Oh and the dessert was a blueberry yuzu sorbet. Finished the entire experience for two at around $200pp. It was a 11-piece omakase with the option to order a la carte. I wish the chef was more interactive. My boyfriend was still hungry so we went to double dragon for drinks, french fries and ramen. LOL.

It was great to talk to the chef. She was so friendly. The food was amazing. My favorite Omakase in Oregon by far.Food: 5/5

Absolutely delicious omakase a must try! We’ve had our fair share of omakase living in SF and traveling to Japan and this one ranks high on the list. It is pricey, but we appreciated the cozy setting and conversing with the chef, who was very knowledgeable and passionate. The fish selection from all over the world was exquisite, the service was fantastic, and we will definitely be back here soon!
