By far my favorite place to go when in Downtown Portland! This was the 3rd time I've been here. I am always one to try new dishes but I've gotten the same thing every time and it never disappoints. The duck stack is a sweet, savory and has a little kick of spice. Such a complex dish that I've never experienced before. This time I decided to also get the Albacore Crudo which was also excellent. For some reason I was not expecting it to be served in a bowl, I was expecting it to look like a roll or something along those lines but that's on me. Either way the flavors were melting in my mouth. I recommend this place to everyone I speak with while I'm here. Surprised to hear a lot of locals did not even know about them!
My partner and I moved to Seattle last year but every time we visit Canard is a must. The foie gras dumplings are the single best thing I’ve ever eaten, each time delighting us with a new seasonal variation. Very close second is the duck stack with the extra foie. It’s gourmet stoner food and I say that with the deepest appreciation. Sitting at the counter and watching the chefs weave their magic is an extra treat on top of the wonderful service we’ve received each and every visit. I love this place with all my organ meats.
We are visiting from out of town and had such a nice experience here. Highly recommend the duck pancakes. Beautiful restaurant and very lovely service.Food: 5/5
We placed our trust in Lonely Planet 's recommendation and followed it to this restaurant, but our experience left us utterly disappointed and in disbelief. The prices were exorbitantly upscale for what turned out to be meager portions, particularly disheartening considering the tapa-sized servings at full portion prices. The glaring disparity between cost and quantity left us speechless. It 's perplexing how this place has garnered such high ratings in Portland, given the painfully inadequate portions and inattentive service. The excessive noise levels further compounded our disappointment. On the subject of cuisine, what was presented as French food bore no semblance to the genuine cuisine style. The sole commonality was the snail-like pace at which the dishes arrived at our table. The attached image captures a $50 dish labeled as a duck stack with added foie gras, yet the reality was 80% pancake with a pitiable duck and foie gras portion. This meager serving was a far cry from what one might expect, and the irony is stark – I could have indulged in a similar dish for a mere 7 euros in Barcelona. The chasm between the promise and delivery at this restaurant left us thoroughly disillusioned. We continue to starve after paying ?100+
