Sereia - Portimão

Lovely restaurant with views over the river. Good choice of reasonably priced, traditional portuguese food. Staff very helpful too.

I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately the food did not live up to expectations. Perhaps I ordered badly but bottom line of the 2 dishes I had fish was fresh but the sauces were terrible. Under seasoned, bland, watery. My main course also had a hair in it which added to my distaste. My waiter however was super attentive and welcoming so top marks for service. Although on a quiet November evening the staff outnumbered the customers and it made you feel a little awkward having them all standing around looking bored. No doubt better in the summer season, but the chef needs to axe the sauces, they do not work at all.

In the Center of Alvor you can find Sereia, where you can have a meal of good local fish. The staff is friendly and the food is good. You also have fresh sea fish (price based on the weigth) if you want something different. There wasn 't nothing out of the ordinary, all was ok. The fish soup was a bit disappointint because everything was triturated (in some places they leave the small pieces of fish). Be also careful with their prices in the outside to call for customers, on the inside some prices may differ and the tourists normally doesn 't notice that. In the overall, 4* 's.

Everything Top...5 Very good service... exceptional friendliness... very good flambé shrimp, the seafood Cataplana was divine... very good sparkling wine sangria... In short, advisable for good gastronomic connoisseurs... Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
