La Tramontane - Port-Vendres

Before visiting Port Vendres, I do as I always do and follow a good restaurant with Tripadvisor and that is the one I chose. We drove for a quick hike around the main country to get rid of some energy from the...dogs and then our way up the main tow of restaurants to my destination. There are many inviting restaurants on the way, but we were determined. When we arrived, I immediately felt it was a good choice. The place was humming and it was only 12,20pm. Once sitting a beautiful cheerful waitress brought a bowl of water for the dogs (you get a bonus point for this) a 50cl carafe of incredibly pleasant and light rose, (more Provençal than local I guess) and finally we ordered. Simon had the menu du Jour, which often means small portions, but not here, the starter, a shrimp and salmon salad could have been a main. I chose the Casserole de poissons. Wow, the fish was perfectly boiled, the scallops perfectly caramelized on the outside. Dessert was also tasty, the Crème de Catalan, which has a fine taste of cinnamon. We spent almost 3 hours sitting in the sun, eating and drinking, never rushed, watching life by, with two dogs and it cost us only 77€. If I lived in a 50km radius of this place, it would be a weekly ritual. If we can make another visit before we go on Saturday, we will, if not, have to be next year!

Large small restaurant in Port Vendres...... great food, great Kir still the best in the area) and charming staff.

This has long been a favourite restaurant in Port Vendres, in spite of the previous grumpy, stressed owner and some poor staff. The food has always been better than other local restaurants and well priced. It was with some trepidation that we returned after two...years (due to being unable to travel) and it was a very pleasant visit. The new owner took over in July 2021 but hasn’t changed the menu (much) and it’s the same chef. The new staff were great, very friendly and efficient, the food portions are generous and imaginatively presented and well cooked. Great to return to a favourite restaurant and it to have improved under new management. We heard other diners praising it to the staff too.

Nice spot by the harbor, this place offers a large terrace and it is much enjoyable. The service was smiling, professional and fast. Prices are very affordable. A place to know!

Lovely evening meal overlooking harbour. Friendly attentive waiters. Delicious food and wine. Highly recommend.
