Larrys Family Uvongo - Port Shepstone

We initially ordered breakfast, but it was only available until noon. Unfortunately, we were informed that they had run out of ingredients because of the two public holidays. So we decided to order something else. Overall, the atmosphere was great, and the restaurant was bustling. The food was decent; my hake and chips were tasty, and my partner enjoyed their burgers. The chips had a nice rustic quality to them.

The view is absolutely stunning. This restaurant boasts the most beautiful location in Uvongo, offering a breathtaking backdrop as you enjoy your meal. The spacious interior features well-spaced tables, and the staff is friendly and attentive. The environment is clean and well-kept, and the dishes are beautifully presented at very reasonable prices.

We experienced a very unwelcoming environment during our visit. Upon arriving, there were no waitstaff in sight, and we had to seat ourselves. It took 20 minutes for someone to acknowledge us and bring a menu. At that point, I told my partner that I wanted to leave because we felt completely overlooked, but he insisted we stay. Despite plenty of staff being present and the restaurant not being overly busy, we noticed that waitstaff kept passing by without stopping to assist us. This led me to believe that there might be a racial bias at play, as we observed staff engaging with white customers while ignoring us, people of color. When we addressed our concerns with a waiter, we were told that the group receiving attention were good friends of the staff. It was apparent that white waiters were taking care of orders, delivering food and drinks, and clearing tables, while a person of color was assigned to clean tables afterwards. If you're white, I would recommend visiting this restaurant, as you are likely to receive prompt service; however, if you are a person of color, I strongly advise against subjecting yourself to the discomfort we experienced. Additionally, the fried food we ordered was excessively oily and appeared to be poorly drained.

The Larrys Family Restaurant is a place where you can experience the true spirit of the South Coast. The food was delicious and at a very reasonable price. The service was excellent and the safety parks for us were excellent.

Larry's family restaurant is a great restaurant. Very busy!!! Food fantastic!!! Can see people love this restaurant. The view of the sea is beautiful!!!! Love to eat in Larry's. Recommend this restaurant at any time.
