Extremely expensive. Nearly $14 for a very small pita and a pop. This was much smaller than the same meal at Bracebridge. Worse yet, there was no real place to sit. The few tables in the service area are not there at least none with seats. There used to be a nice seating area overlooking the scenery. The janitor had closed this off because he wanted to get his mopping done while there were still customers coming in. Looks like this operation is on its last legs. Less food, less service, and no seating is not going to keep customers coming in.
I’ve stopped at this rest stop numerous times, and usually have had a pita on my way home to Muskoka. Since my last visit, the operation has degraded significantly. The price for a small pita and a pop was almost $14. The size of this offering has shrunk and is certainly smaller than the offering at the Bracebridge Pita Pit. The handy tables in the service area have been taken away. Worse yet, the janitor decided that his convenience was more important than customers and had closed off the nice seating area. So while it might be reasonable to pay a little more for food in order to have a nice place to sit, here there was no seating at all.
This Pita Pit is a definite pass on cleanliness, service and value for money. The kiosk is a mess, veggies and crumbs everywhere, fingerprints all over the glass and 2 older ladies work here and at the burger place next door it seems. I ask for a gluten free pita and the lady asks me why I want gluten free, I say because I can 't eat gluten. She raises her voice and asks me if 'it 's by choice or am I sick '. I say, my choice because I 'm sick, and ask her to keep it away from wheat please. So, out comes the frozen pita. I order a chicken caesar and the two ladies start talking about whether its gluten free or not, not inspiring much confidence here. Meanwhile, my pita is placed on the counter where all the other wheat pitas have been and the preparation of the pita begins. The lady tears open the side and the top of the frozen pita completely, puts in the chicken and veggies and tries to wrap it up, even though there is no longer a pocket in the pita. All the filling is oozing out and it gets all over her gloves, but she wraps it up anyway. It 's such a mess she hands it to me and I get a hand full of sauce simply from touching the paper- I ask for another one. The lady gives me a sour look and goes to get another pita. Instead of starting again, she unwraps the pita and begins to remove the filling and puts hands full of it in the new pita and wraps it up. I get a $10 wrap with squished lettuce, sauce on the outside (same gloves were used) and about 3 pieces of chicken. Such a mess this pita was, looked like I pulled it out of the trash can and most certainly not worth the cost. Won 't return.
Worst location I’ve ever been too. Staff is slow and and seemed to have no idea what they were doing.
