The location is amazing, nestled in the sand hills with stunning views of the South Australian coastline. I often bring interstate and international friends here to showcase the beauty of this part of South Australia. In the past 1-2 years, the Deck has undergone significant improvements and has become a must-visit spot for us, no matter the weather. It's perfect for families, with plenty of space for kids to play on the fenced lawn area with a sand pit, while adults can relax on the tiered deck surrounded by beauty. There is often live music on weekends and a growing selection of local and international drinks. As a part-time local, I have seen this place improve greatly and highly recommend it for a cold beer or wine while in Port Hughes or Moonta.
This quaint café offers a charming view of the protected dunes and ocean, perfect for outdoor seating. However, two shade sails may not provide enough protection during the hotter months, but should suffice for autumn weather. More shade will be needed for the warmer months. The meals took a long time to come out and seemed disorganized. Many guests had finished eating while others had not even started. This was especially frustrating since the bus crew had pre-ordered meals to save time. This delay cut into our time to explore the golf course and surrounding areas, which was part of the tour. Despite the wait, the portions were generous and the quality of the food was good. With some improvements to address the meal delays, this café could be a top spot.
Today's visit was with a group on tour. Our lunch orders were taken enroute and relayed ahead. The Deck Bar and Cafe' is a unique spot in the seaside town of Port Hughes near Moonta. There are views of the dunes, sea and surrounding countryside. A very pleasant spot with nice food, wine and coffee. The golf course is adjacent. The fish was popular and the seafood schnitzel delicious. A bit of a wait for the fish, but time was not important as we were just enjoying the day.Suggestion: 'Blue Grenadier' is perhaps a more elegant way to describe 'Hoki', even if is flaky, flavoursome, succulent and matched well with Clare Valley riesling.I would like to return here on another occasion. If you are looking for a new place in SA to relax and wine/dine, do visit. Not expensive and welcoming hospitality.Recommended.
We could not have picked a more fantastic spot than The Deck Bar and Cafe at the Copper Club Port Hughes to hold our wedding reception. The communication leading up to our day with Chris was easy and Chris and the whole team went above and beyond to ensure we had the perfect night!Having a cocktail style wedding reception we feared people may be left hungry we could not have been more wrong!!! The food was simply sensational and all our guests commented on how much of it there was. This is a truly beautiful and professionally run establishment that we could not recommend higher.
Had a very lovely afternoon tea here. Coffee and cake for $7. Choice of 5 cakes and wonderful latte. Gorgeous view as well.
