North Shore Inn - Port Hardy

This hotel offers good basic accommodations. The staff is friendly, and the location is excellent. While the hotel may feel a bit outdated, it is clean and comfortable, and everything is within walking distance.

The owners of this restaurant are truly delightful, and the location is fantastic, featuring beautiful views nearby. I would rate the rooms 4 out of 5.

Avoid this place unless you're absolutely in need. The building's structure is concerning, the interiors are unclean, and the appliances are not functional.

I wouldn't choose to stay at this hotel again. It was in poor condition and not well-kept. There was no elevator, and the stairs posed a real risk; the carpet was so frayed at the edges that it could easily cause someone to trip, particularly those with mobility challenges. My room reeked of cigarette smoke, and I discovered hair in the bedding. I would have raised these concerns with the staff, but the only person available left right after assisting the ferry group. I managed to get some sleep but departed very early the next morning.

I’m afraid this establishment should consider closing until renovations are complete. The lobby has a musty smell, and the kitchen/restaurant is currently closed. The room I stayed in was the worst I've encountered in North America, with mold and old, damp carpet. Despite these issues, it still seems to attract tour buses and unsuspecting tourists. I would rate the rooms 1 out of 5.
