Reuben sandwich was advertised as "prepared by daily by the chef" - that was not home made-meat and certainly not stacked as advertised. The toast in my sandwich was burnt on the underside. The french fries were cooked in old oil and were not appealing. The rice stir fry was horrid especially the chicken breast which looked thawed rather than cooked. The waitress compensated by taking 20% off the bill. There was a very meagre helping of stir-fried veggies for this item. All in all, will not visit again.
I think this is the worst experience I have had in a very long time. My hubby and I decided to go for breakfast on the Sunday of Canal Days. We seen posted they had a Sunday buffet so we thought we would check it out. When you first come in they have all these lovely ladies and not one of them could even crack a smile. The one waitress seemed okay but the bartender was our waitress and terrible. They even give you coffee in cardboard cups...they said they ran out of mugs! So she brings our coffee and asked "so you want breakfast" and we replied yes...she then walked away. So we sat there for about 15 minutes and had to ask another waitress if we could order and then the bartender comes over very nasty and said I ordered it for you...I did not want to say much as we don't have our food yet. Very tempted to tell her to shove her coffee and leave but we decided to stay. I asked well I asked if you wanted breakfast did I not...I replied yes, but what is it? She laughed and said the buffet is fresh to order...like we should know. I told her oh...I have never had to order for a buffet as we normally get to chose what you want. She replied nope, you get what is in the flyer. I have never seen this before in my life. Needless to say it comes and it was very standard, nothing special...scrambled, bacon not crispy, sausage not bad, and deep fried home fries. I only ate half and same as my hubby. Then as we waited 20 minutes for our bill we over heard another table with some elderly couples as for a shot of Drambui, the two men go and take a drink and it's wine..they were not happy cause he called the day before to find out if they had it and they said yes...then he found out the staff had no idea what it was and thought it was wine. Seriously who takes wine in shot glasses...ladies you really need think before you speak. Some new training needs be in order. I run a business myself and its very successful because I'm all about service excellence, nothing less. Don you need to visit this location as it needs a whole lot of help. I spoke to some of the other guests at the marina where this is located and none of them will go to this restaurant, they said it's been in the dumps for years. Has huge opportunity...if I had a great breakfast I would have been back for dinner because of it being in the marina.
This place is literally a hidden gem on the southern coast! My friends and I come here occasionally and we always feel right at home. They have a really nice patio overlooking the marina with a beautiful view. All of the servers we have had here are all very friendly and never fail to provide us with top notch service with a smile! The food here has always been really good every time we have visited. My friends and I highly recommend the wings and the steak dinner. And the $20 buckets of coronas to wash it all down...such a good deal that can't be beat. Overall Don Cherries in Port Colborne is always on our list of stops while we are in town, looking forward to coming back soon!
Avoid this place! I'm not picky and put up with some pretty bad service but this was the worst service in my life and the Alaskan White Fish dinner although ok at the time made me sick later. The patio wasn't busy but the server decided to have a seat with some customers and disappeared for lengthy periods. It took us ten minutes to just get a menu. The only saving grace was the view, but suggest you grab McDonalds and sit at the marine on a bench instead,
This spot offers a beautiful view from the elevated patio. The chicken wings are delicious and the beer is cold. Heaven on the lake.
