Fairmount - Port Angeles

This is a charming and welcoming diner. We received friendly service, and the menu offered a great selection from breakfast to dinner. My husband ordered chicken-fried steak, our son tried the land skill, and I enjoyed the beer-battered cod and chips. Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted fresh, whether it came from the grill or the pan. We were also impressed by how clean the entire restaurant was! We shared a slice of lemon cake, and it was so good that we ended up competing for the last bite. Overall, we had a fantastic experience, and I can't believe this was only our first visit after living here for over 20 years. We will definitely be returning!

Check out the live music, but make sure to arrive early! The performances start at 5 PM and wrap up before 8 PM. This place attracts an Early Bird crowd, so you'll definitely feel young while you're here.

I sampled a few dishes during my visit. The service was consistently friendly and quick. I highly recommend the Bacon Cheeseburger with onion rings; the onion rings were crispy and the burger was substantial. I ordered the roasted chicken steak dinner. While the fried steak was enjoyable, the potatoes were instant, which was disappointing. The vegetables tasted old and had a burnt flavor, but the toast that came with the meal was quite good. I would suggest sticking to just the steak. My husband ordered the biscuits and gravy with a side of sausage. The sausage gravy was decent, but nothing to write home about. Be careful with the side orders; four breakfast sausages cost $8!

It's a good time since I was here last. Service was stellar. Sa outside (which can be a trigger to be forgotten) and get the best service levels we have ever seen here. Ordnet cookies and engraving, cookies were great, but the engraving was a little sticky. I think the engraving is from a mixture as I saw the same taste consistency elsewhere. Not terrible, but not great. I think the cut link sausage was added fine, but not the same as starting with the pan the sausage was cooked for a base. I may have the wrong, but hard to get immaculate white engraving when dark brown preference is contained in the pan.

I adore this place. A lot of the nearby food spots don't offer breakfast early or late, and the Fairmount is always a slam-dunk. The coffee is good, the food is just fine, the staff is always friendly and efficient, and I enjoy that the locals are always around. It has become my go-to when I'm in Port Angeles for business, and I'd stop here over a vacation as well. Grateful for this lovely little diner!
