Homestead Cookhouse - Port Alberni

My husband and I are from Comox and decided to spend a day in Port Alberni. Tried this restaurant for lunch. We had the best burger and the best pork on a bun. The lady who owns the restaurant is very very nice. Will eat there again next time we visit!

We did an afternoon visit to Port Alberni and stopped at the waterfront for a quick lunch. What a total gem. We had the Classic Hot dog, bacon and cheese, with grilled onions. Bun was hot just like I like it. Sooooooooooo good. The hot dog is grilled. Covered in cheese and several slices of bacon. Very filling. I wish I was close enough to go back and try their other items. Wonderful ladies looking to please.

Stopped in Port Alberni on our way from Tofino to Victoria last summer and decided to try Homestead Cookhouse. So glad we did. The women were super friendly and welcoming and extremely accommodating. Working in their tiny kitchen, they produce awesome meat and great sandwiches. Too bad we live in Ontario or we'd be back over and over again. Congrats on your great little place. Hope you stay around for a long time

Great place for basic homemade fare. We love the smoked chicken blt and go back for it whenever we have a chance. The only seating is outside which is nice when the weather is good, and there is a covered area. Beautiful scenery on the ocean front.

Staying at a lakeside rental, we had to feed a big group with limited space and facilities: Homestead Cookhouse was the perfect answer! We picked up six generous pounds of delicious pulled pork, complete with extra sauce for a very reasonable price. Fifteen people had huge, super tasty sandwiches, with no hot oven and no smoky barbeque on the deck--brilliant! The lady at Homestead was efficient and helpful, handling our big order with just a quick advance phone call--she even threw in free coleslaw.It's got a smallish eat-in space, so consider planning for a picnic in the lovely adjacent historic site.
