Drinkwaters Restaurant - Port Alberni

Always stop on the way to Tofino. Really delicious pastries and coffee!! Also some souvenirs and knick nacks.

We had breakfast here in the mornings. They offer pastries and several different breakfast sandwiches. the breakfast sandwiches and breakfast burritos were very good. We picked up a couple of pastries to eat on the road later, and those were also very good. Nothing fancy, but good, wholesome food.

After a long journey, I was looking for a place to take a break at an independent cafe instead of the usual chain restaurants. The food was great and the coffee was decent, but the staff could definitely use some improvement. When I walked in and greeted them with a cheerful "good morning," I received no smile or response in return. It seemed like the three girls working there were not in the best mood, but a simple smile and good manners don't cost anything. It's a shame that their attitudes put a damper on an otherwise pleasant experience.

Dellas Café is a nice pit stop on the highway from Nanaimo to Tofino at Port Alberni. One can stop here for some snacks and coffee while driving down either way. It is located about halfway between both Nanaimo and Tofino, right next to the Sproat Lake Landing Resort just outside Port Alberni. We had some tasty Indian Samosas with Vegan and Tandoori Chicken fillings served with a piquant pickle. Other items on the menu included cakes, pastries, ice creams, cold drinks, a variety of coffees and hot chocolate. Some cute little gift items are also available to carry as souvenirs for friends and family. There is a nice lawn with some colourful tables and chairs and one can sit out in the open and relax for a while next to the lake. Kids can exercise their legs and the parents can stretch their limbs before driving on.

After spending time at our campsite without any modern amenities, such as Internet and running water, Dellas Cafe was a welcomed change. The cafe not only had great customer service and tasty coffee, but also offered delicious homemade banana bread. Additionally, there was a convenient countertop where we could sit and use the Internet for a brief period.
