Ero già stato in questo delizioso ristorante e, come la prima volta, ero molto felice. ottimo servizio e ottima cucina
Cibo ottimo, piatti del territorio e non, tutti con ingredienti di alta qualità. Un menù ricco ma non pesante . Servizio impeccabile, ambiente curato. Lo consiglio
We arrived here late and without a reservation, after walking out of a different restaurant who could not be bothered to serve us, so we were in a low mood which immediately lifted as we were politely shown to a pretty table in a narrow room, tastefully decorated and with some attractive and unusual art on the walls. The restaurant was busy, but the old house is a charming, quirky place with a series of little rooms individually decorated, and a pretty garden, so it feels intimate with its smaller tables, linen tablecloths, and candlelight. A pretty antique ice bucket was quickly brought to our table, with a delicious bottle of Prosecco that we had ordered to cheer ourselves up. Menus arrived quickly and demonstrated culinary knowledge and expertise we had not expected, but our food when it arrived exceeded all expectations!! A beautifully balanced and elegantly served avocado mousse with a raw prawn ceviche was outstanding, and our duck breast was cooked to perfection, thinly sliced with crispy skin and with a light jus, was served with some of the best mashed potato I have ever eaten. Just the right quantity of food, prepared with care, skill and attention a very rare find in Pontremoli! We were so impressed we decided to try desserts, not needed but spoiling, and they did not disappoint either! A mille feuille with forest fruits and a creamy filling was a perfectly balanced mix of sharp and sweet , and my Tiramisu was delicious too. Presentation of dishes throughout was attractive and such a refreshing change. We will return, but will book ahead if we can, as in the past we have often found this little gem was closed when we made an impromptu visit.
There's lots of good dining in Pontremoli (we own a home there) and it cuts across a gamut. Teatro takes some from the local cuisine (testoroli) but also brings in a broader world of Italian and finer dining. The duck, for example, is prepared in a French style (at a lower temperature but more cooked through than the French usually do it's better), perfectly seasoned with grainy sea salt and wonderfully tender. The attention to detail in the food is superb. The sister/brother tandem (front/kitchen) are serious about their food. They'll give you your space but if you are there when it's not busy and show some interest in what they are doing they are happy to share and very friendly. Quite a good meal and at a price that is astounding to a New Yorker.
