Le Val Fleuri - Pontonx-sur-l'Adour

In this family run restaurant where the wife looks after the front of the house and husband does the cooking. The food is excellent and the service is good. There is an good choice of local regional wines at reasonable prices. There are some good local specialities on the food menu as well as the normal French favourites found at most restaurants. I am always amazed just how many good French restaurants there are off the beaten track and this restaurant is certainly worth going to.

In spite of the lorries thundering past on the dual carriageway and the electric storm the night we were there, we had a lovely meal, with each dish attractively presented and extremely tasty. Salmon gravadlax, duck and sea bass fillets were highlights, with all the accompaniments perfectly matching the main dish. Staff were friendly and attentive.

First visit, but in summary agree with the 22nd June 2014 reviewer. Out of town, remote location next to a motorway precludes eating outside and perhaps provides a clue as to why there were only 3 tables occupied on the evening we went. Two waiting staff pleasant enough and accommodated all the ages in our group including one with a high chair. Began the downhill journey when they couldn 't grasp the 'gin ' in gin and tonic. Apéritifs were followed by an amuse-bouche which was a bland egg cupful of gazpacho. Lots of versions of foie-gras for starters but the one that one of our party tried was decidedly average as indeed were all the starters except the half-lobster which was overcooked to the extent it was rubber. Main courses under seasoned, small and uninspiring. Desserts average too although the crème brûlée was good. Chose local wine but it was not cheap. L 'addition was probably double what it should have been for the quality we received. Overall poor value and not a good or typical French offering. Very disappointed.

Typical restaurant, a kind of inn style, very good meal, French cuisine and a nice service.

Wonderful restaurant with street side with something amazing eating. we're so glad we broke down on this place. I highly recommend it and the personal was friendly and accommodating.
