Hotel Restaurant de la Chasse

We were taken here by friends who explained that the Owner was a little out there and had the title Mad Woman This amounts to her trying to make fun of anything or anyone who is not sitting quietly or hiding in the corner. I requested another Pastiche (ricard Greek Ouzo) during my meal and she raised the restaurant roof by pointing out that no one would be served such a drink with their meal, everyone laughs and I manage to get a Brandy instead. The food we had was a lunchtime set menu for around 14euro a head consisting of 4 courses, not haut cousin but the sort of food that locals traditionally eat of a lunchtime here in France. Do not visit if you are the timid type, only people with a sense of humour need apply Would I go back, well, in a heartbeat, you can eat food at home, but fun and food!?! We had the formule, for 16 euros we got foie gras, grenouilles or Beef an Dessert resp. cheese! everything was perfect nice wine aswell. We even got a digestif for free. A must if you stay in Pontgibaud!

As my father already told me long ago do not let TL lightning fool you when entering a French restaurant! This is absolutely the case for Restaurant de la Chasse. The decoration might be a bit 'cold ' the warm welcome of the owner in combination with the fresh homemade food really makes up for it. Unfortunately our starter (scallops in puff pastry was so copious that after our main course and excellent local cheeses (which the owner buys directly at cheese farms in the area! there was no room left for a dessert. I guess we need to go back for that soon!

Very well received, a copyy food. Perfect, it's worth getting out of the highway to eat.
