An old-fashioned brasserie-type restaurant set behind the family wine shop, this is the place for honest food and decent helpings. We had an excellent marinated salmon starter served with lime, followed by a delicious steak Tartare. Minced rather than chopped, so hugely better than the...recent fashion for dicing the steak into chewy little squares. Here, apart from an initial seasoning with salt, pepper and capers, and an egg yolk in a small dish, all the ingredients are given to you in a small basket so that you can adjust the taste for yourself. It’s a friendly, family run business, much favoured by locals, and you will get good advice on what wine to have with your meal. The service was good apart from one thing, which may have been untypical but our first course plates weren’t collected for over a quarter of an hour after we had finished. But we will return as it was a breath of fresh air in these neo nouvelle cuisine days.
Came with friends and all enjoyed. good starters, followed by beautiful pork and thunfish for the net and a good caffe gourmand for dessert.
This informal restaurant is discreetly fucked behind a weinladen (w. well) and deli' in the inner city and easy to miss if it was not recommended for a. the interieur is rustic, but has a comfortable ambiente and is very busy with local at noon...time friendly staff and, while the service was relaxed, it was also very efficient. we all set ourselves from the menu and the food was excellent. the wine list is very short (but good) and they can also choose a bottle from the shop and they only charge the retail price plus 6 euro corkage. last positive was the bill that came to £87 for 4 people, including two bottles of wine and service fantastic worth. a great sound and highly recommended.
Went this evening to this restaurant in Pont L'abbe. The restaurant had a cosy atmosphere with a mish mash of furniture, the staff a young man and young girl friendly helped us through some of the menu choices. It didn't matter that we were not...fluent in French. My husband had the biggest steak I have seen for a long time which was cooked to perfection. The portion sizes were huge, for the starter main and desert. If you get a chance to go then please go you will not be disappointed.
