Finally the time came for a trip to Naples… I was so excited! But my partner and I were completely disappointed. We took eight items in total, wanting to try a bit of everything, including of course the ischitano, brioche pandoro and the weekly special. The cornetti were clearly well made in terms of lamination and proofing but ultimately lacking in flavour and had a dry, chewy texture. The famous pandoro brioche definitely did not live up to its reputation as the softest you can eat. The creams, of which we tried quite a few, were overly sweet and rather tasteless. For example, the creams in the special L’Italiano cornetto were supposed to be: Tiramisu (fresh cream and mascarpone) and salted caramel. Let’s just say these flavours could not be tasted at all just a generic sweet cream. The Buffalo cream also had an unpleasant starchy taste and texture. As a pastry fanatic who was sincerely excited to try the products here (and first in line that evening), I was super disappointed.

Unico, inimitabile.
