The George - Plymouth

We were a group of six people looking forward to enjoying a Sunday roast at this restaurant. Unfortunately, we had to wait for an hour before our food finally arrived. When it did, we were disappointed to find that we only received two portions of vegetables and one serving of cauliflower cheese to share among the six of us.

Had a lovely meal with my colleagues on a Wednesday evening. The restaurant was quiet, but the service was friendly and the food was of great quality and worth the price. I will definitely be returning!

I have never written a negative review before, but my experience at this restaurant last night was disappointing. The service was very slow, which I understand because they were quite busy. The biggest letdown was the dish I ordered for £13.95 - eggs and chips. I expected it to be served with beautifully carved ham, but instead it was just four slices from a package. I was highly disappointed! The sticky toffee pudding was delicious, but the portion size was small and it did not come with the advertised cream topping. Overall, it was a disappointing dining experience.

Great sunday roast. had the gammon. really enjoyed every mouthful, would highly recommend all my friends. we sat outside because we had dogs, but they are welcome in the bar area. will definitely be back. size of portions exactly right.

Visited on 3/7/22,one chef down we were told so we waited nearly an hour for food. Luckily the staff are always lovely and very apologetic so we waited. Plates not the best to look at when they arrived, my partner had one slice of beef...on his plate initially, the kitchen brought a slice of pork to compensate. Two big guys and myself, I gave them one of my potatoes and hardly touched the shared veg so they would have enough. The veg was a bit overdone in places and the gravy was like instant granules and far too thick, I left a review last year and it was glowing but sorry Don't know if they have a new chef but in the present climate £13.50 is too much for the meal we received, to be fair it tasted alright but there wasn't enough for what we paid my boyfriend left hungry!!!and to top it all the owners left 20 mins into our wait for food, after they had eaten!! Sorry but it has gone down hill
