Contribuiți la feedbackWe had a wonderful surprise when we had lunch at this newly launched establishment which has been reinvented by Chef Rich?Wonderful take on tapas food. Good service and a well stocked bar; a bit let down with a rather ordinary wine list and no beer on tap. i am told this will be rectified.
If you're in Plettenberg on a Sunday, Barrington's is one of few restaurant options. So thankfully it is very good. The menu is inventive and extensive, including plenty of lighter or meat-free options. The wine list is extensive, plus they have their own microbrewery. Any restaurant would be lucky to have a front-of-house team like this. Every staff member was warm, proactive, efficient and quick to build rapport. Adjoining the restaurant, there's a bakery and food shop full of interesting SA-made treats.
A great place for lunch or dinner with family friends. The grounds are well maintained with freshly grown vegetables and herbs as you enter. The menu had plenty of options and the live music was appreciated
During our stay in Plettenberg Bay, we had the privilege I mean privilege) to eat twice at Barringtons. Both times was in the evening so I can’t comment on their daytime meals. We had a table right next to the roaring fire it was the perfect spot. Not so perfect for the people sitting near the door which was constantly opening and closing. They were frozen by the end of the evening. First up value for your buck food) is their current winter 2023 dinner menu. 3 courses for R245 without a glass of wine R300 with wine. There is also a choice of a 2 course meal. Our first meal there, we chose the 3 course meal without wine) chose all the vegetarian options. Pear blue cheese salad to start for me enough for 2 persons) the most sublime potato leek soup for him. Main course was excellent melt in your mouth beer battered fish 2 generous pieces excellent thick cut chips. Partner had the Thai red curry which was packed with fresh veggies, beautifully presented deemed excellent filling. They had run out of chocolate brownies so we settled on the sticky toffee pudding very sweet but served without ice cream which would have complimented the dish) a delicious Amarula Dom Pedro. I can highly recommend the winter special as value for money. The 2nd meal was Dahl spring rolls dish of the day in my opinion) sumac roasted cauliflower. Main was tagliatelle with mushrooms thyme excellent! Dessert was the chocolate fondant which made all the calories worth it. Ambience of Barrington’s is social, loud and with the beer factory to greet you when you walk in the door makes it an overall highly recommended restaurant to eat at. A special mention to the manager on the floor both evenings who welcomed us back as long lost friends. Thank you for taking the time to chat to us. I recommend you check out their website to see what is on offer but a trip to Plett will never again be without eating at Barrington’s numerous times. I can’t recommend this spot enough. Edit: they also offer Friday night burger beer nights movie with dinner nights. Both of these evenings need to be booked beforehand and the manager assured me they were full house on the evenings.
After 2 weeks in SA, I want to say that it was the best food I had so far! The taste of everything was just amazing. Beer tasting is interesting 5 nice beers produced there in a brewery. Our waitress was taking care of us really well. Thank you so much for such a great experience!
