It is a little hard to find, but it is worth when they come there, they find a hacienda like building with many rooms to go. eating is plentiful and savory, and the prices are really good. they will find, babacoa all kind of Mexican breakfast, but also wad and hot cake. I think everyone would be happy. they only open from Friday to Sunday.
The trip to the upper hills of pinkrito is worth it. in rainy weather, however, it can be a bit more difficult. rancho las ilusiones (rli) is a restaurant in Ranch style with an atmosphere that is available to local Mexican families. Sometimes they may find a few...gringos... but everyone is welcome. rli is only on Saturdays and Sundays until approx. 4 clock open. that probably explains why it is overcrowded. they will note the large seating round tables for 6-8 persons, which are available for large families. there are however a few scatters of 2-4 tabs. it is overcrowded, sometimes there is a long waiting time. ask for Mexican coffee for beginners. it is special, cafe de la olla is coffee with heavy center of pilloncillo, a charred cinnamon sugar. absolutely delicious! simple breakfasts are rich, the simple Mexican type. all very delicious. we always start with the white menudo, which is the original art and wise as it was prepared in the old days. my mother makes it white. then, after several batches of consumption, it would add the chili to season it. now, rli makes white menudo to inspire. my wife and I split a large bowl and spike it with oregano, tamed bevel, cilantro. soon comes the house mais tortillas, covered in a basket: big tortillas, pierced hot on the touch. we share and the celebration begins. this time I ordered huevos con chorizo, substituted rice for nopalitos, with fried beans. lamb dishes are plentiful and very popular at rli. sometimes they run out. if they are a lamb lover, they will come early. I know manuel, the headwaiting almost forty years. I met him first in el nido as one of the waiters. he is waiting there after he is finished on the rli; at 16 o'clock on Saturday and Sunday he goes down to the hill to work the evening shift at el nido. rancho las ilusiones is a great place to mix with locals and have a great traditional Mexican breakfast. do not forget to order cafe de la olla!
Excellent restaurant. Went for breakfast. You have to go down a dirt road with potholes. Excellent food and service. After breakfast they you can walk around the ranch and see animals.
