The Violet Cafe Lounge & Bar

My family and I were wandering the streets north of 5th for an authentic meal and happened to pass by the Cucina Italiana - Chirnquito by Violet Cafe'. It's a casual, yet romantic restaurant with open-air seating. The first thing that caught my eye was the long list of delicious-looking risotto on the menu. I hadn't had authentic risotto in many years and made the the decision that this was to be dinner for the evening.Francy and Luca are the new owners and they are an ABSOLUTE delight. Upon ordering drinks, we were met with the most gorgeous plate of FREE appetizers I have ever seen... and I am a foodie. Francy gave each of us a plate with FRESH french bread, grilled zucchini salad, beef empanada, and cheesy potatoes. YUM! Our dinner plates were - gorgonzola, grapes, and walnut risotto; cheese and pear risotto; and a cheeseburger plate. All were expertly prepared, arranged, and served. We were having such a wonderful dining experience that we decided to order dessert as well. BEST DECISION! The chocolate marscapone dessert is sublime and I highly recommend it. OVERALL - GREAT EXPERIENCE, EXQUISITE FOOD. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. A+++!!

Chiringuito is a brand new Spanish restaurant in the Grand Mayan resort in Playa. We loved the ambiance and setting for dinner. They are known for their Paella and we were not disappointed. They are large helpings and it takes 30 min for them to get it ready. Its outdoor small setting by the pool makes it intimate. One of the concierge recommended this place as its very new and we loved it.

My husband and I ate at this restaurant 4 times during our two week vacation to PDC. He loved the spaghetti and lasagne and I loved the grilled salmon with grilled vegetables. They make their own pasta. High quality food with reasonable prices. Staff is very friendly and hospitable. A definite must eat at if you love pasta and seafood. We will be back on our next visit to PDC!

Great little place tucked away off the beaten path. Had the pizza. Was excellent. Service was top notch. Reasonably priced. Look forward to returning this trip.

We were going to the Coffee Shop, but it was closed. Violet Cafe was close and open, so we went there. I am so glad we did. We ordered lemonade, cappuccinos, a croissant with Nutella for the kids and shared a focaccia sandwich, on recommendation of our server. Amazing! The service was great, and fast. I look forward to returning for supper.
