Palafitos is located at the end of a pier in a private resort. The venue itself is clean and beautiful and boasts great views of the ocean, Cozumel and various sea birds (we had an amazing view of a large pelican who was fishing just off the deck). Getting to the venue, however, was a mission and I suspect they do not host non resort patrons very often. I had to give my name, booking confirmation details and vehicle information to four different staff members before we got to the restaurant. None of these staff members could give us information about where to go or where to park and we ended up walking around asking random staff members for assistance. We ended up being late for our reservation. It was then we met a staff member Alex who put us in a golf cart and drove us directly to the restaurant. En route he gave us a brief tour/history of the property which was great. The property is also home to several camels which we were lucky enough to see while there. Beyond that, service at the restaurant was good and all staff members were wearing masks, etc. The drinks were good and had interesting flavours (and weren't dependent on alcohol to carry it which seems to be the case with many Mexican bars and restaurants). 5 stars for drinks. The food was good but missed the mark on a few dishes. For example, for starters I had the Alaskan King Crab with bacon served in a half shell. Although tasty, the shell kept breaking at the edged as I was trying to get the meat out of it and I ended up with bits of shell in my mouth on several occasions. 4 stars for food. One last note: There were no prices on the online dinner menu so you don't really know what the damage is until you get the bill.
