Roots Chicken Shak - Plano

I’ve had this place once and since then I crave their amazing sweet tea with mint and orange. However, the last several times I’ve tried to visit around 7pm they rudely turn away customers when Legacy Hall is still open. I’ve had this happen to me three times already and for that reason I won’t go back out of concern that I’ll be turned away again. So unfortunate! Google shows you stay open until 9pm so please document your hours more clearly if that’s not the case.

Who doesn’t like chicken wings??? I love their special duck fat chicken wings!! Combined with their special sauce which is awesome. The favors are super good and tasty!!

Overall the food was okay at best, definitely not as good as the hype makes it out to be. Maybe an off day or something else...? I don't know, but I ordered over $100 of food for me and my family and honestly, it was a waste of money. The food was fried well, absolutely no complaints about that, but there was no hint of seasoning on our chicken tenders or chicken wings. I was at least hoping the sauce would save the day, but alas, to no avail. No biggy, can't win em all, and definitely struck out on this one.

Chicken sandwich was fantastic so much flavour and the crunch of the batter was delightful. The fries are some of the best I've had. The tenders however were small, bland, greasy things although the sauces provided did much to make them palatable. Service felt unfriendly and ponderous however. Probably still worth coming out for that sandwich though.

This was a huge letdown. I had high expectations based on the reviews. Paid way too much for a 12 piece box. This was by far the worst fried chicken wings I’ve ever had- no lie! It was full of batter, greasy, soggy, overcooked, flavorless, and dry. Not only that, but after eating a couple of pieces we started feeling sick so we dumped it in the trash. I really wanted to love this based on the reviews, but this chicken does not live the hype unfortunately.
