Thai Orchid At Plainfield

I ordered the yellow curry with chicken and spring rolls, and I really enjoyed the curry. I kind of wish I had chosen the fish and shrimp instead. The spring rolls were served hot and were very crispy, but the filling was a bit dull. I'm here on business, and this meal was definitely my favorite of the week.

I visited the restaurant about an hour before it closed (at 3 PM, then reopening at 4 PM) and found only one other customer there before me, along with a couple who arrived just as I was leaving. I was welcomed and seated immediately. I chose green tea for my drink because many restaurants use a lot of plastic, but I was pleasantly surprised to receive my water in a glass cup! I knew exactly what I wanted: the #12 Garlic Pepper (with chicken and shrimp), medium spice served on a bed of cabbage, which also came with white rice and a complimentary baby spring roll—so adorable, I loved it! The meal was excellent, just what I needed. It wasn't too heavy and was perfectly seasoned. However, I only received about three shrimp... I guess they were saving the rest for the dinner crowd, haha! Overall, the prices were reasonable and the service was fantastic!

The restaurant was better until last year. They've started using colored cream instead of authentic coconut milk in their curries. However, the drunken noodles and Thai basil rice are still excellent. It's also conveniently located near shopping stores.

Ate here recently for the first time. Food was really good. Staff was nice. Atmosphere was neat enough. I?ll be back.

Today I went in town to see a friend of mine who just came back from his homeland in South America. I wanted to give him a beak from downtown Indy so we went to Thai Orchid in Plainfield. I?ve been here twice and like their taste. The presentation is great but the quantity is disproportionate to the price. What made me upset was that before we finished our dishes, the waitress brought our checks. Especially my friend still had much left to finish. I?ve been to several Thai restaurants Indy area One on Mass Ave, one in Broad ripple, one on Rockville Rd, Bangkok Jazz on Ohio St, and Siam House in Bloomington, IN). They all treated me and my guests well and the quantity is really huge. I was very disappointed my visit to Thai Orchid today.
