Thinking was my last trip here....Steak was overcooked, and fish tasted overly fishy . had the Sea Bass and my guess was it was a little old Sauce and bok choy were excellent...appps were very good and service was pretty good. Steak was the Ribeye and really for like $55 I would expect thicker than maybe 1/2 inch at most (like your pinky at the most)...Asked for Medium not knowing it would be so thin as was expecting warm pink center not brown throughout. Im not one to send food back unless uneatable and we didn 't so lesson learned.
I had high hopes for our New Year 's eve dinner. I would break my review down into four areas: 1) Service Please invest in training. You market as a high end steak house but our waitress was as inexperienced as any I have ever seen. a) Rushed us through the meal bringing salads when appetizers were still on the table, bringing mains when we hadn 't even started the salads. b) Brought main dishes but forgot to put in our sides so we were left sitting there as our food got cold. I asked her to please slow down, the restaurant was less than half full (should have been a sign) c) I ordered a cold IPA to eat with my steak, she brought the bottle and set it on the table as if I was sitting in a dive bar, when I asked for a glass she was shocked. Who puts a bottle on the table in a high end restaurant? 2) Ambience the front door says dress code honored yet there were no fewer than three gentlemen eating with baseball caps ON (one backwards) and dirty shoes and jeans. If its a Ponderosa then call it that, price like that. Don 't market yourself as high end and let people dress like bums. 3) Food I ordered a $78 Wagyu bone in Ribeye. It was a 1/2 inch thick steak? Again if it is going to be a Ponderosa, call it that. This thing was coated in blackening powder and cooked so poorly it was barely edible. Can 't be a steak house cooking and serving this awful meat. 4) Professionalism We arrived at the restaurant and were greeted at the check in by the GM arguing with a customer (in shorts) about some order that the restaurant took on line but seemingly didn 't fulfill. Why hold this conversation at the check in on New Years Eve for every arriving customer to here? Pull the customer to a quiet area and sort it out. Lastly, while waiting for my wife at the end of our dinner who had popped into the restroom I was greeted by my final item, a waitress walking towards dining area from bar yelling F&%k, sh&t, ... perfect. Disaster, stay away.
The food was really good. However the service is terrible. We had a party of 8 and our waitress had zero help. It took forever to get drinks, basically she delivered 2 at a time. When it came to delivering food, no help, no food runners so again 2 at a time. Too expensive for this level of service. In reading previous comments, I’m in agreement with a lot of them. Good food, terrible service. Just not staffed properly. Would not go back. Too many other high end steak restaurants that do it better.
Service was very poor for being early afternoon on new years.
