I enjoyed the ambiance, although the chair was uncomfortable enough to make me lose feeling in my backside. I really appreciated the high-tech Toto toilet—it brought back memories of Japan. Unfortunately, the food was overpriced and merely average. I had a steak dish and a piece of uni, both of which were of great quality and flavor. However, the tuna pizza, hamachi crudo, and hand rolls were rather disappointing. The tuna pizza lacked a bit of salt or spice. The hamachi crudo was bland and cut too thick for my liking, coming off as one-dimensional and oddly sweet. The hand rolls (steak tartare and scallop) were forgettable; the steak had some strange potato sticks on top that added no flavor, and the scallop was excessively sweetened with who knows what. To top it all off, the prices were outrageous. I'm glad I gave it a try, but I won't be going back.
I recently dined at Gi Jin in Pittsburgh, and it was a fantastic experience. We started with the Negroni and Roku 75 cocktails, both of which were spectacular. The Negroni's pandan flavor was a unique twist that I really enjoyed. For our appetizer, we had the onigiri, which was delicious. The highlight of the meal was the bara chirashi plate, featuring a great collection of fresh fish. However, the hamachi crudo plate, while showcasing fresh fish, didn't quite match up to our expectations. Towards the end of the meal, we savored some classic salmon and tuna nigiri, which were delightful. But the desserts stole the show! The Matcha Misu was, as always, amazing, and their new dessert, the apple spice cake, was a delightful surprise with delicious anglaise and flavor. The ambience at Gi Jin is very pleasing, and the service was top-notch, as always. Overall, it was a memorable dining experience with a blend of unique flavors and classic favorites, making it a must-visit spot in Pittsburgh.
My favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh! Parking can be quite challenging, especially on game days or during events. Service: Dine-in. Meal type: Dinner.
I recently enjoyed one of the best meals I've had in a long time, and I can confidently say this restaurant is among the top three in Pittsburgh. The service and atmosphere were exceptional. As someone with nut and shellfish allergies, I was impressed by how accommodating they were at every turn. Each dish was perfectly balanced, the drinks were expertly crafted, and the apple spice cake for dessert was the ideal finale to a wonderful evening. It was definitely worth the wait and the cost. I give it a perfect 10/10 and highly recommend it!
Excellent quality sashimi! Recently moved up here it was difficult to find a good sushi place ! After 3 weeks of waiting for the appointment, the day has come and it was worth it !
