Butterjoint - Pittsburgh

Spouse and I love coming here for the service, drinks and excellent food. It was about 10 degrees outside so we asked not to be seated by the door and we were pleasantly accommodated. We really loved the chicken sandwich (easily favorite part of the meal). Yes, I said the chicken sandwich of all things. The flavor, garnishes, spicy level, bun, everything was perfect. We've been here several times and any chicken we've ever ordered has been better than anything else we've tried. Beef tartare (2nd favorite part of the meal) perfectly prepared and well seasoned with a chilled poached egg on top. Smoked Bluefin Dip Well paired with the butter grilled crackers. Had a complex flavor profile. Seafood is so difficult to rate for well seasoned foodie travelers, because we all know it's not the same as being at the actual ocean or bay. This was probably our least favorite part of the meal, but we spend a LOT of time at the ocean so it's a tough call. Tart Cherry Shrub mocktail was refreshing and perfectly complementary with the spicy chicken sandwich. Also had a nice thick stout brew, a whiskey sour and a really neat Kimchi/Tequila drink which was a change of pace and spicy if you like that sort of thing. Our server was Jennifer and she was super attentive and wonderful the entire time. It's nice that everyone kind of helps each other out at this establishment, too. Keeps things coming out and hot when it gets to you. Love going to Butterjoint before events in Oakland and will be back again many more times in the future!
