Not many people here on a Saturday evening, but it 's a very small town in a historic looking house like structure, right off the 8 freeway. So besides the literal crickets chirping outside... I opened up the big rustic door and entered into a mountain town like watering hole... welcomed inside by a couple playing pool, watching the game I entered the sports bar area..... I asked if they were still open, sure enough got a beers still cold response... nice! Perfect... the friendly bartender Ernie helped me out with some craft beer tasters and decided on a local Santee brew called the Revolver nice IPA selection at this place, seriously I wanted to order their calamari but they were out... So I tried some of their specialty fries BITE ME yup a perfect version of creative gourmet fries, mega garlic crisp fries Ordered a pesto garlic chicken pizza ... This was a great pizza.... Wrapping this up... wow is all I can say, to a place in a small town, it sure had some powerfully tasty food offerings, and creative as well... and the great craft beer menu didn 't hurt either The staff was great, I even thanked the cook for doing such a great job, the food was that good. Great mountain town eatery Cold beer, great food, friendly staff, juke box, pool table.... large screens for watching the game I absolutely love these types of hidden gems...
Keep in mind, Calvin's is pretty much your only sit down option at night in Pine Valley. That said, they make a pretty mean turkey burger. Second time here. Second time ordering the turkey burger. It is flavored right and cooked well which is important to me. I am allergic to wheat and so no bun for me. It has to taste good on its own and it does. I don't recommend spending extra for the Fry Frenzy. They call it smothered fries but it is more like shredded cheese thrown on top of fries with some bacon bits. Saying it is yummy but not worth the extra money. The beer selection is super good. They had every thing form Coors to Ballast Point to Lagunitas and Mazanitas. something for everyone. Next time you are in pine Valley ? , order a turkey burger and a local craft beer and enjoy. The restaurant is not the cleanest or the best ambiance but it is Pine valley and your only option. So for what it is worth, it is decent! Oh and all you can eat spaghetti on Saturday nights!
Headed to Major's for some 50s decor and food but it was closed due to Summer hours. So went across the street to Calvin's . Absolutely delicious hamburger all hand pattied great beef, fresh veggies. We also tried the Cobb salad, fettuccine Alfredo and onion rings and fries everything was great. Do recommend this place. Service was quick. Food was great.
This bar is a big disappointment. My husband and I call here every couple of months and this is the fourth time in a row the have been out of bud draft. Who ever is doing the ordering obviously doesn't know what he's doing. On top of that still no wifi what bar in this day and age doesn't have open wifi. The owners of this pub need to lift their game. If u wasn't a bar full of drunken noisy locals with no bud draft and no wifi then this is your place!
Great place, service dog friendly. The bartender I think his his name was Ernie was very nice.
