Contribuiți la feedbackFirstly….you need to book…don’t just turn up. You’ll be turned away. Please don’t see this as a bad thing but see it as a place, nay a man, that cares about your experience. Secondly…you won’t get a menu. You don’t need one, speak with Gio when you book and trust his skill to give you an amazing dining experience. This place is Italy rolled up into one place. The quality is amazing, everything fresh, prepared just for you and your tastbuds will tell you something that you’ve never experienced. The route up to the restaurant is the start of your experience. You’ll be convinced that you’re lost. A dirt track road that twists its way through the Tuscan countryside. Word of warning, go in a 4x4, anything else will bottom out! On arrival you will be welcomed by you’re host, Gio. He is Chef…maitre’d, waiter, comedian and barman (avoid the Elisir D’ahore) and a man as well versed in life as he is in the. Gio brings his Scillian heratige to his cooking so you’ll enjoy a wide range of amazing ingredients and expansive recipes. You’ll be treated to 4 or 5 courses of amazing food accompanied by the best wine that the region has to offer. After dinner, try the home made limoncello it’s amazing! Be careful of the other offerings, theres danger to be found here! For me, this is an experience that you’ll go far and wide to equal and even further to better.
Delicious experience, lovely place surrounded by greenery. giuseppe, the owner, very friendly and very nice, delicious dishes fruit of a natural and genuine cuisine, a superlative grill of meat very soft and goose. relaxing and familiar atmosphere, good wine and delicious dessert. to come back for sure.
A home from home in a peaceful, bucolic and beautiful setting on a Tuscan hillside overlooking the Tiber valley. The road to this idyllic place is rough in places but one will forget all about that on arrival. There are three aspects to this small hotel and restaurant. First, Giuseppe, the owner, who speaks excellent English and knows London well, greets one as a long lost friend. He goes out of his way to satisfy all tastes e.g one of our guests is on a special diet and he made sure that her needs were fully satisfied. Second, the ambience: before the meal one is welcomed in a homely sitting room with books, magazines, objets d'art, paintings and drawings some by local artists. The Tuscan antipasto is served in this room giving one the chance to relax before proceeding to the dining room. Third, the meal. We booked lunch for eight people and were served with five tasty Tuscan dishes. The meal ended with a variety of liqueurs, some homemade e.g. absinthe. A truly wonderful experience which lasted for five hours. The cost was reasonable certainly did not break the bank.
Il Capannino is a restaurant that exudes the personality of its owner Giuseppe. By this I mean that it is based on a passion for good food in comfortable but stylish surroundings where you are made to feel at home immediately. Located a little off the beaten track, but then most things are in this part of Tuscany, the restaurant is in a beautifully restored building in the local idiom. Filled to the brim with amazing and interesting artworks the surroundings are at once homely and tasteful. The food is table d'hȏte but will caters to everyone's taste and ranges from traditional Tuscan to more international—always with fine seasonal produce. Overall one of my favourite restaurants in the region where I keep coming back, and back, and back again.
Our local friends recommended that we should stop over this place while we were touring Tuscany and it was an amazing gourmet experience. Once we left the main road we found the road challenging yet once we arrived amazing views of the Tuscan landscape welcomed us. We loved the mediterranean dishes and the host's stories about the local area. This is a fabulous gem (not easy to find) that would reward your palate....we had the best Tuscan experience in this lovely restored farm.
