Tavern - Philadelphia

Had a great meal at The Tavern last night. My husband and I were in Philly for a play and decided to stay overnight. The Tavern was a 5 minute walk from our hotel. We both decided on the Tavern burger and homemade French fries. The burger was an 8 oz. sirloin burger served on a brioche roll. They were cooked exactly how we asked for and the fries were hot and crispy. Thank you for the delicious food and service. Will definitely stop in again when nearby.

Very good food and portion sizes. Service was a little slow, probably due to the fact that there was only one waiter for all tables. We weren 't in a hurry, so it was not that big a deal. Everyone was very friendly. The outdoor signage should be a little better to indicate that the dining is in the basement, so you don 't have to wander through the bar to find the T with an arrow pointing downstairs.

Matt, our server, was great. We were the only 2 people in the whole restaurant. Ordered deviled eggs (very good), Wedge salad (beautiful, but needed more dressing Matt brought more upon request), Chicken fingers (delicious, with mouth watering honey mustard for dipping) and Grilled Cheese Tomato soup (very good). I’ll be back.

The Tavern is our new go to before we head to the theater. A true hidden gem. Nice ambience, delicious food that is not overpriced. It is quiet with attentive service. Do not hesitate to give The Tavern a try.

Nice, quiet, intimate dining space. Never disappointed with menu selections. Not extensive but something for everyone. Good portion sizes.
