Function Coffee Labs - Philadelphia

The staff here is incredibly friendly, and they are very welcoming to dogs, allowing them to sit with you inside. The cinnamon rolls are absolutely the best I’ve ever tasted. If you take some home and microwave them for about 20 seconds, I guarantee you won’t be disappointed! While the coffee isn’t my favorite in the area, the americano is quite good. Overall, the friendly staff and amazing cinnamon rolls make this place definitely worth a visit.

However, I do have some feedback: the shop appears a bit cluttered, and the glassware was stained. While they were clean, a little bit of Cafiza would go a long way. I also noticed some old machines and boxes were left out in the area where the coffee beans are displayed, which detracted from the overall appearance.

I usually enjoy Function for their coffee and sourdough baked goods, but I think this might have been an isolated incident. This morning, I ordered a sesame bagel with cream cheese and a large hot coffee. Unfortunately, the sesame bagel had very few sesame seeds, and the dough had an unexpected rosemary flavor. Paying $4.75 for a smaller bagel that was lacking in sesame and tasted like rosemary felt a bit excessive. On the positive side, the coffee was good, hot, and strong as always. I’ll continue to support this business, but I suggest they implement a bit more quality control.

One of my favorite coffee shops in the city! I appreciate that they offer quality coffee and are always coming up with creative, flavorful specialty drinks. Their pastries are also absolutely delicious! Function is a gem!

Great atmosphere, great pastries, great coffee. The pastries are decadent, the coffee freshly ground.
