We arrived to Philly and got to campus and my daughter lit up when I asked her where she wanted to eat, she immediately said Dim Sum. We had the scallion pancakes and those were a HIT! I will admit, when I heard scallions I was skeptical because I though it would have an onion taste, but I was beyond wrong! I am glad that I tried it because it?s something new that I truly enjoyed. We also had spring rolls and while it comes with sweet chilli sauce I personally like it with peanut butter sauce and it did not disappoint. I had the pleasure of trying wonton soup and although I?m not a soup person, this was my favorite out of everything I had. My daughter introduced me to Dan Dan Noodles she loves it; I in the other hand liked it but was not a fan of the texture of the noodles. It was my 1st time trying these types of noodles, so I guess I have to give it another shot to see. We also had Dry pot chicken my family loved it, but I did not. It was too spicy for my liking on top of me not liking the flavor. Lastly, we had the beef dumplings, that too was a hit! Perfectly cooked and the dipping sauce added a little extra flavor. The ambiance was nice and service was great. I will definitely patronize again with my daughter while in town as she loves this location!
When craving for dim sum I go to Jane G's and also because there's actually good dim sum in university city. I live and work by the area, so it's nice to have variety of food in the area. They are located on the 2 floor you can take the stairs up or use the elevators hidden behind the door. They have great food options if you're by yourself or sharing with a group. They also have a bar so if you're in need of a drink, they can supply it!
3.5 We ordered the hot and sour soup which is a must eat here! We also ordered scallion pancakes which were pretty good (though on the oily side) and spicy shrimp dim sum which we didn?t enjoy at all. The dry pot chicken was pretty good and the mapu tofu was way too oily. There were some hits and some misses. We come again to try some of the other items. The service was mediocre but nice ambience.
Very good. Nice variety of Dim Sum choices. The soup dumplings were the only disappointment. They were luke warm and did not contain any soup . The rest of my dishes were really good. Garlic pickled cucumbers had a lot of pungent garlic on them. Honey vinegar spare ribs were delicious. Tofu in Black Bean sauce was perfectly prepared. Huge pot of steaming hot Chrysanthemum Tea was a perfect compliment to my meal.
The food all came out fast, and everything tasted great! The extra spicy shrimp dumplings were pretty, and the beef stuffed scallion pancakes were especially good. The happy hour cocktails were only $5, sweet fruity. The atmosphere was very chill, and the service was great too.
