Surfair Beach Hotel - Petrie Creek

Visited often over the last couple of decades and while it has morphed from one sort or another, the food and service has always been great. Loved the seafood buffet they ran several years ago on a Sunday. Wish that would come back!!

Took friends here during holiday stay and they catered for all requirements. Great food (breakfast and dinner), nice wines, TAB and some pokies for a punt, and children friendly. Nice outdoor seating area as well

We decided to dine here because it was convenient to where we were staying. We arrived early and were greeted by a charming young lady who was waitress and bar attendant. After a round of drinks we decided to order dinner. This is where my opinion of the place went downhill very quickly. Unfortunately, the meals were not as expected. Portions were quite small and the meals that were served were not of the quality you would expect for the price paid. Probably consider other dining establishments next time.

I ordered the signature steak special... if I were the chef, I wouldn't sign off on this to save my job... 300g rib fillet with grilled Moreton bay bug, brocollini, creamy mash and bearnaise sauce.Where do I start - the steak was over cooked and (although it was a rib fillet) was a pretty poor cut of meat. The bug had clearly been frozen and didn't have any char - rubbery and flavourless and only just got enough. The mash was gluggy and pale, that slight grey blue colour you get from leaving in bain Marie for too long. The "bearnaise" was, I assume, the stuff out of a carton with, again I assume, a sprinkle of tarragon over the top and was poured all over the plate so affected the taste of everything. To her credit, my waitress offered me a complimentary drink but really, if I wasn't starving, I should have returned the whole meal ($39) and walked out then and there. I won't be returning didn't take a photo - definitely not the food porn we all love.

My twin brother and I hosted our 50th Birthday party at Surfair last weekend and couldn't have been happier. Everything met our expectations and more! The staff were faultless from breakfast service to our Saturday function host and waitresses, they couldn't have been more accommodating. Even though they had 2 other functions on the same night. The venue itself is perfect for this type of gathering as people were able to enjoy the beach, pool, a lazy lunch on the outdoor couches, the TAB and even sport on the big screens. All this and all our accommodation was 30 seconds away.We would highly recommend Surfair for any type of function or family gathering.
