Dixie - Petersburg

The first time I had Shrimp and grits here it was delicious! This time not so much. The vegetables were overcooked. Shrimp was OK.I love Dixie Restaurant. It is a local icon. This one mediocre meal will not stop me from eating there. As always the service was excellent!

The food was excellent and delicious. The omelet was scrumdiddlyumptious.

The catfish sandwich was delicious, service was great, and so enjoyed lunch with my gal pals!

Service was the best part of our breakfast experience. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. There is nothing special about the breakfast menu, but it appears that the chef took the time and cooked each order well. There was a bit of wait for our food, but it was worth it. Food is not gourmet, typical diner breakfast food, but the quality was very good. Corncake (corn pancake) was delicious, I have never had it before. I ordered the Corned Beef Hash meal, the Corned Beef was cooked slightly crisp outside, nice and soft inside. I loved it. My friend had the Large Fried Catfish Filet with Homefries, biscuit and an order of the sausage gravy. His wife ordered the Salmon Cakes with Stewed Apples, and Corncake. I have tried half of the Salmon Cake, it was OK.

They've been around as long as they have for a reason. Best breakfast/lunch spot in the Tri-City area. If you haven't yet, try them out and see what I mean.
